Today I am a carpenter.... a wanna be carpenter! Farm Table here I come!

I am very excited about a new (to me) blog I came across knock-offwood.com.  I leave there so excited and inspired!  I have been trying to find a long & narrow farm table to no avail. Yes, Brimfield and Sage Farm you have let me down!  Lucky for me the awesome people at designspongeonline.com (whose blog I follow religiously) introduced me to Camila.  I went to her blog and one of the readers had commented about being inspired to build a FARM TABLE she saw at knock-offwood.  Well my dear friends, not only is knock-offwood my new favorite obsession, I am happy to report I am taking the plunge.  I am going to attempt to build this farm table and it starts today.

Much like this, only more narrow and for use as a double person desk....

I Imagine painting it to look something like this....

eclectic dining room design

I am so excited, I must get started now!
For the record as of writing this, I purchased the materials for the plan.  I did however substitute 1x6x8' boards for the table top, since I wanted to make it more narrow.  I also had 3 primed 1x6x8' boards left over from our screened in porch (which is still a work in progress but I have vowed to add the photos in the coming weeks, along with my DIY how-to on shortening store bought bamboo or wooden roman shades).  Anyhoo, the total for the supplies (purchased at local big box orange store & minus the 3-1x6x8'ers) including wood, sandpaper, countersinks, and glue (no new paint needed as it is plentiful in my workroom) grand total $73.37.  Mind you I do not have sales tax here in lovely NH.
I digress.... off to the workroom (i.e. garage) I go!

Sharing our May 2010 Brimfield show finds

So, we promised photo updates of our style in the works.... (waiting for a sunny day when the house is clean to take photos) - COMING SOON, swear!
We also promised the final product pictures of the DIY wainscoting.... (was trying to outfit the room with furniture first) - photos to come soon of empty room as we are not finding the right furniture, but we know it is out there somewhere.
Also, we told you we would update you with our Brimfield finds..... really not a lot to report.  But, we shall do so soon.

First things first though.  Tomorrow May 20th, we are off to Todd Farms ( as they have added a Thursday to their schedule) lucky for us!!!! If you are not familiar with Todd Farms, check them out here.

Friday we are going to the White Home Market.  They are in what I would consider is Western NH.  On the way to our beloved Red Chair Antiques in Peterborough.

SO, after all of that traveling around & hunting we might be tuckered out.  We WILL update from the market's if they are worth the thumb action on our iphones. ;)
If not, we will update you later and PROMISE we will add our photos soon.... I guess they better be good to make it worth your while!

Brimfield update

Yesterday, Deux Maison spent a COOOOOLD day in Brimfield, MA at the ever so anticipated and exciting Brimfield Antiques and Collectable Show (see it here).

Michelle made out with a genuine, new to her, cow hide... a huge Ironstone bowl & a little silver-plated pot... disappointing but still love the pieces nonetheless.

Cris found a lovely Ironstone bowl and an antique, already cut up, printed German grain sack!

We had better luck last year in July and decided instead of round two, we would wait for July's show. In the mean time, we are going to fulfill our junking urges by shopping at some closer, local stores aplenty which we rarely (if ever) go to. Updates to follow!

Luckily we met fellow design diva's in the Painted Pretty booth (see them here). Their booth was adorable, had many pieces we loves (but didn't want to haul around Brimfield). So we are planning a trip to see them in Boston (check it out here). We cannot wait to see them again & also check out to see what awesomeness we might uncover at SoWa. Stay tuned!
